2025 Top 100 MLB Players: #40 - #36
40. Blake Snell, Pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers
Blake Snell enters 2025 as one of the most accomplished pitchers in baseball. The 32-year-old left-hander joined the Los Angeles Dodgers this offseason, signing a five-year, $182 million contract after a season where he threw his first career no-hitter with the San Francisco Giants.
Snell is a two-time Cy Young Award winner (2018 with Tampa Bay and 2023 with San Diego), making him one of only seven pitchers in MLB history to win the award in both leagues. Known for his overpowering fastball and devastating breaking pitches, Snell has consistently ranked among baseball's strikeout leaders.
His career statistics speak for themselves: a 3.18 ERA, 77-58 record, and 1,372 strikeouts. Snell made his Dodgers debut on Opening Day 2025, continuing his role as a front-line starter for a championship contender.
39. Adley Rutschman, Catcher, Baltimore Orioles
At 27, Adley Rutschman has established himself as one of baseball's premier catchers. The switch-hitting backstop, selected first overall in the 2019 draft, has become the cornerstone of the Orioles' resurgence.
Rutschman's rare combination of offensive production and defensive excellence makes him especially valuable. A two-time All-Star (2023, 2024), he earned All-MLB First Team honors and a Silver Slugger Award in 2023.
Behind the plate, Rutschman displays exceptional game-calling abilities and a strong arm. At the plate, he combines power with on-base skills from both sides, making him a complete player. His baseball IQ is particularly impressive - not surprising for someone who also briefly played college football as a placekicker at Oregon State, where he led the Beavers to the 2018 College World Series championship and was named Most Outstanding Player.
38. Pete Alonso, First Baseman, New York Mets
The player nicknamed "Polar Bear" remains one of baseball's premier power hitters. After briefly testing free agency, Alonso returned to the Mets on a two-year, $54 million contract with an opt-out after 2025.
Alonso burst onto the scene in 2019, setting the MLB rookie home run record with 53 and winning NL Rookie of the Year. He's maintained his power stroke throughout his career, becoming just the fourth player in MLB history to hit 200 career home runs in fewer than 700 games.
Alonso is a four-time All-Star (2019, 2022-2024) who led the NL in RBIs in 2022 with 131. While he's primarily known for his power, Alonso has developed into a more complete hitter over time. His clutch postseason performance in 2024 - including a dramatic go-ahead three-run homer in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series - showed his ability to deliver in the biggest moments.
37. Brent Rooker, Outfielder/Designated Hitter, Athletics
Brent Rooker has emerged as one of baseball's most dangerous power hitters. The 30-year-old slugger signed a five-year, $60 million extension with the Athletics in January 2025, cementing his place as a franchise cornerstone.
Rooker's journey to stardom wasn't straightforward. After brief stints with the Twins, Padres, and Royals, he found a home in Oakland where his power potential fully blossomed. His breakout came in 2023 when he earned his first All-Star selection as Oakland's lone representative.
He followed that up with an even better 2024 campaign, hitting .293 with 39 home runs and 112 RBIs while earning his first Silver Slugger Award. Though he underwent extensor repair surgery in his right forearm after the season, he's expected to be at full strength for 2025.
Rooker has international experience as well, having represented Team USA in the 2019 WBSC Premier12 tournament where he was named to the All-World Team as the best designated hitter.
36. Eugenio Suárez, Third Baseman, Arizona Diamondbacks
Eugenio Suárez brings consistent power production and veteran leadership to the Diamondbacks infield. The 33-year-old Venezuelan has been one of baseball's most reliable power sources at third base throughout his career.
Suárez showed immediate impact with Arizona in 2024, batting .256 with strong power numbers while playing excellent defense at third base. His durability is remarkable - he appeared in 158 games for the Diamondbacks in 2024 and played all 162 games for Seattle in 2023.
He started 2025 with a bang, earning NL Player of the Week honors after hitting four home runs in the season's first three games. His career totals of 281 home runs and 842 RBIs demonstrate his consistent production over 11 major league seasons.
Suárez's journey includes stops with the Tigers, Reds, and Mariners before joining Arizona. His best season came in 2019 when he hit 49 home runs for Cincinnati, setting the single-season record for most homers by a National League third baseman and by a Venezuelan-born player.
