Thunder Beat Warriors 104-97 Behind SGA's Leadership
Thunder Hold Strong Against Warriors
The defending champion Thunder effectively protected their home court on Saturday night. Oklahoma City triumphed over Golden State with a score of 104-97 in a contest that came down to the final minutes. This victory improved the Thunder's record to 50-15, keeping them firmly at the top of the Western Conference. The Warriors, however, fell to 32-31 and continued to struggle in their schedule.
Thunder Build Early Lead
Oklahoma City began the game with enthusiasm in the first quarter. The Thunder quickly raced to a 34-28 advantage. Their defense put pressure on the Warriors on nearly every possession. By halftime, OKC had expanded their lead to 67-54. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander orchestrated the offense with precision, similar to a maestro conducting a symphony. His passes consistently found open teammates in flawless rhythm.
Warriors Battle Back
Golden State refused to back down in the third quarter. They fought hard to claw back into the game, narrowing the deficit to just three points. The Warriors entered the final period trailing 86-83. Gui Santos played with intensity and determination, aggressively attacking the basket and securing rebounds with both hands.
Fourth Quarter Decides It
When it mattered most, the Thunder looked to their superstar. Gilgeous-Alexander finished the game with 27 points and five assists. He maneuvered past defenders as effortlessly as a skater gliding on ice. Isaiah Joe contributed 18 points with his precise shooting from long range. Cason Wallace played exceptional defense, notching four steals. Meanwhile, Jaylin Williams excelled on the boards, grabbing 14 rebounds.
For the Warriors, Santos led the charge with 22 points and 11 rebounds, displaying relentless effort throughout the game. Brandin Podziemski added 17 points during his 39 minutes of play. Draymond Green contributed 16 points, demonstrating his championship experience.
Unfortunately, the Warriors played without their star guard Stephen Curry, who is sidelined due to a right knee injury. His absence created a significant gap in their lineup.
Looking Ahead
The Thunder continue their pursuit of another championship with unwavering confidence. Conversely, the Warriors must quickly devise solutions as the race for the playoffs intensifies.
