Spurs Beat Mavericks 135-123 Behind Wembanyama's Dominance
The San Antonio Spurs traveled to Dallas and showcased a commanding victory Thursday night. They defeated the struggling Mavericks 135-123, thanks to an incredible performance from Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama Takes Over
The 7-foot-4 superstar appeared nearly unstoppable throughout the game. Wembanyama scored 29 points and secured 11 rebounds, shooting an impressive 64 percent from the floor. Additionally, he blocked three shots and made two steals.
With his long arms, he swatted away shots attempted near the rim, demonstrating his defensive prowess. His smooth jump shot found nothing but net time after time. Whenever Dallas tried to rally, Wembanyama responded effectively.
The Young Guard Shines Bright
Stephon Castle had an outstanding game for the Spurs. The second-year guard contributed 18 points along with six assists. He also gathered seven rebounds and made three steals.
Castle played intelligently all night, pushing the pace and locating open teammates. His energetic play ignited San Antonio's offense during crucial moments.
Veterans Step Up
Harrison Barnes delivered consistent scoring, contributing 19 points while hitting 71 percent of his shots. De'Aaron Fox added 17 points and recorded seven assists. Julian Champagnie came off the bench to score 14 points.
The Spurs built their lead early and never looked back. They held a 74-63 advantage at halftime and maintained the pressure throughout the game.
Dallas Fights Hard But Falls Short
Cooper Flagg and Naji Marshall each scored 32 points for Dallas. The rookie phenom continues to impress despite the team’s struggles. He also added six rebounds and blocked three shots during 38 minutes of play.
Max Christie contributed 20 points while Daniel Gafford grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots. Unfortunately for Dallas, they couldn't contain San Antonio's well-rounded attack.
The Mavericks were missing key players, including Kyrie Irving. They struggled to keep pace with the Spurs' intensity and precision.
Looking Ahead
San Antonio improved to 35-16 and currently occupies the second spot in the Western Conference. Their young team is learning how to secure victories in challenging road games. Meanwhile, Dallas dropped to 19-32 and continues its search for solutions.
