Thunder Survive Wild Battle With Nuggets
The defending champion Thunder escaped with a nail-biter on Monday night. Oklahoma City outlasted Denver 129-126 in a game that went down to the wire. Both teams traded baskets all night long.
Jokic Does Everything
Nikola Jokic was absolutely unstoppable for Denver. The big man recorded a massive triple-double with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists. He made shot after shot, hitting over 63 percent from the floor. Jokic looked like a maestro conducting an orchestra. He saw passing lanes nobody else could see. His no-look passes zipped through defenders like magic tricks.
Aaron Gordon helped out with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jamal Murray added 21 points and eight rebounds. Tim Hardaway Jr. caught fire off the bench with 28 points. The Nuggets fought hard but couldn't quite finish.
SGA Leads Thunder Charge
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put on a show for the home crowd. The reigning MVP scored 35 points and dished out 15 assists. He glided to the basket like he was skating on ice. His footwork left defenders spinning in circles. SGA made tough shots look easy all night.
Jaylin Williams stepped up huge with 29 points and 12 rebounds. The Thunder needed him with several key players out. Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein both missed the game with injuries. Ajay Mitchell provided a spark with 24 points off the bench.
Down to the Wire
Denver jumped ahead early, leading 40-37 after one quarter. Oklahoma City battled back by halftime. The score stayed close through the final period. Both teams made big plays when they needed them most.
The Thunder improved to 51-15 and stayed first in the Western Conference. Denver fell to 39-26 after their second straight loss. The Nuggets need to figure out how to win these close games.
