Murray and Jokic Lead Historic Comeback
The Denver Nuggets pulled off an amazing comeback Thursday night in San Antonio. Down big after three quarters, they stormed back to beat the Spurs 136-131. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic were unstoppable when it mattered most.
Murray Catches Fire
Murray put on a show for Denver. He poured in 39 points and dished out seven assists. He shot over 52 percent from the floor and looked like he could score whenever he wanted. Murray weaved through defenders and launched jumpers with perfect form. His quick hands and lightning-fast release kept San Antonio guessing all night.
Jokic Does Everything
The big man was everywhere. Jokic finished with 31 points, 20 rebounds, and 12 assists. That's a triple-double with monster numbers. He grabbed boards over multiple defenders and fired passes across the court like lasers. His soft touch around the rim made scoring look easy. Jokic also added three steals and two blocks on defense.
Denver Digs Deep
San Antonio led 106-94 after three quarters. But Denver refused to quit. Spencer Jones provided a huge spark off the bench with 19 points. Cameron Johnson hit clutch shots and finished with 15 points. Christian Braun grabbed nine rebounds and battled hard on every possession.
The fourth quarter became a battle. Denver's shooters found their rhythm while Jokic controlled the paint. Their defense tightened up and forced tough shots.
Spurs Fight Without Wembanyama
San Antonio played without superstar Victor Wembanyama, who sat out with an ankle injury. Stephon Castle stepped up with 30 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds for a triple-double. De'Aaron Fox added 27 points and nine assists. Harrison Barnes scored 20 points, and Dylan Harper chipped in 13.
The Spurs led most of the game but couldn't stop Denver's final push. Castle and Fox battled until the final buzzer, but Murray and Jokic were too much.
Denver improved to 41-26 while San Antonio fell to 48-18.
